Meet Stephen

   

Rooted in Faith, Family, and Community

 

My name is Stephen Huver, and I am seeking election as Trustee for St. Thomas and Elgin County on the London District Catholic School Board. Catholic education has played an important role in my life, and I believe our schools should continue to provide students with a strong academic foundation rooted in faith, service, and community.

 

My family and I have deep roots in Elgin County. Through parish life, volunteer service, community involvement, and the experience of raising a family, I understand the important role our Catholic schools play in the lives of students and parents.

 

Strong schools are built through cooperation between families, educators, parish communities, and the broader community. I believe trustees have a responsibility to listen carefully, govern thoughtfully, and keep students at the centre of every decision.

 

Professional Experience

 

Throughout my career I have worked in financial management, administration, strategic planning, and organizational leadership. These experiences have helped me develop a practical approach to problem-solving, budgeting, accountability, and long-term planning.

 

As Business Manager for The Family of Parishes in Elgin County, I work closely with clergy, staff, volunteers, parish councils, and diocesan leadership to ensure resources are managed responsibly and transparently. These same principles of stewardship and accountability are essential for effective school board governance.

 

Why I'm Running

 

I am running because I want to contribute positively to the future of Catholic education in St. Thomas and Elgin County. Students deserve safe, welcoming schools where they can thrive academically, spiritually, and personally.

 

As Trustee, I will advocate for strong student supports, responsible financial stewardship, meaningful partnerships with parishes and families, and effective representation for communities throughout St. Thomas and Elgin County.

 

I believe trustees should be accessible, transparent, and focused on the long-term success of Catholic education. I will work to ensure that board decisions reflect both sound governance and the values that define our Catholic school system.

The decisions made today will shape Catholic education for years to come. I look forward to listening to families, engaging with staff and parish communities, and helping ensure students receive the support and opportunities they need to succeed.
