Stephen Huver
Fiscally Responsible Catholic Education
Why I'm Running
My name is Stephen Huver, and I'm running for Trustee of the London District Catholic School Board to represent Elgin County. My father, Rudy Huver, was chair of the Elgin Catholic board when I was growing up. My father-in-law, Brian Simpson, who recently passed, was a trustee on the Elgin board as well, and that legacy of service is a big part of why I'm stepping up now.
My wife and I are raising seven children, and I know firsthand what families across Elgin County want from their Catholic schools: a strong faith foundation, real academic support, safe and well-maintained buildings, and a board that listens. I bring a business background, a lot of hands-on volunteer experience with youth and faith formation, and a practical, family-first perspective to the board table — with an emphasis on Catholic education and fiscal responsibility, so every dollar spent serves students well.
Professional Background
Ten years in the corporate world, followed by ventures in agriculture, investment advising, and property development, taught me how to manage budgets, evaluate risk, and plan for the long term — the same discipline a trustee needs when reviewing a multi-million dollar school board budget.

- Currently Business Manager for the Elgin Roman Catholic Family of Parishes — giving me an inside view of how a faith-based organization plans and manages its finances
Community & Volunteer Involvement
My volunteer life has centered on youth leadership, faith formation, and community governance — priorities that translate directly into the work of a Catholic school trustee.
- Seven years of Boy Scout leadership
- Fifteen years as “Chief” (camp cook) at Knights Quest, a Catholic boys' camp
- Ten years leading Adult Catechism classes — hands-on experience forming Catholic faith life in the community

- Former board member of a seniors' housing complex
- Former board chair of a small Catholic independent school — direct experience governing a Catholic school's operations, budget, and mission
